An incident that left 8 people dead and at least 11 injured when a
man drove a vehicle onto a busy Manhattan bike path on Tuesday (Oct. 31)
has been condemned by New York's Mayor as “a particularly cowardly act
of terror.” The 29-year-old terror suspect was shot and arrested by
police, the Associated Press reported, and later in the evening
Pres.. Trump announced Homeland Security would tighten immigrant
screening as a result, calling for "extreme vetting" to avoid future
attacks.
The shocking incident on the cusp of New Yorkers flooding
the city's streets for Halloween celebrations, drew dozens of
heartfelt, emotional responses from musicians, actors and politicians
who sent their love and support to the city that suffered its worst
terror attack since 9/11. Josh Groban
was among those in the area at the time of the attack. “I’m shaking,”
he tweeted. “That’s the corner I was supposed to have my coffee but my
dog pulled me into the park half a block away 10 min before shooting.”
